I've seen a lot of things....

But this had to be the gayest thing I have ever seen. I blame fuel for making me watch this final table... and so I had to witness this disaster which otherwise I may not have noticed or heard about.

Now, I don't care what you choose to do and how you play your cards... but at this point, swimmom had a solid 2:1 chip lead and looked like she was going to win another seat to the TOC. Instead, she chooses to give the seat away AND chop the cash. I had to double check the chip count to see if she was the one that was down but she had the 2:1 chip lead. And yet she suggested to chop cash? And give seat?

Maybe she doesn't operate on killer instincts like I thought we all did. Cuz if it were me, no way in hell I would be letting someone win. I'd make them earn it. But not her. I know ScottMc was gonna quit playing poker after this summer so I'd like to say good for him... but now, I can't even say that. It would be funny though if ScottMc knocks Swimmom out on the bubble in the TOC. Like "Saving Private Ryan" (I think), you let an enemy get away, he could be the one that comes back to kill you later.

What a waste of a tournament. This is why I never watch these final tables anymore. Nothing good could come of it. So gross. I'm going to bed.

That's completely ridiculous. Chopping the cash when you have a 2:1 chip lead is stupid enough unless you have no confidence in your poker skills at all, but giving up a TOC seat, whether you've won one already or not is just downright retarded.

The only thing that is f'ed up about the deal is that swimmom is giving up way too much, given her lead. I have no problems with chops but this was like she just rolled over and gave up.

RR, would you have minded if she insisted on a 2:1 split of chips AND she gave up the seat? How about if she took 1st place money and gave the seat to Scott. In other words, is it deal-making that bothers you in this instance or is it the terrible deal that was struck?

I hated that part from Saving Private Ryan. I thought that the guy's compassion was a good thing and yet he ends up getting killed by his own compassion. I know it isn't supposed to be a fairytale with a whole moral and all that jazz, but the message sent by that scene was just stupid.

I think the point to be made on Saving Private Ryan was that it was war. The reality is cruel and sometimes, good deeds don't always come back in a good way. If it's a battle, there's no room for compassion.

What I hate about this whole thing is how retarded the deal is. It's really not even a deal. At that point, maybe Swimmom shoulda thrown in her own house. Hey Scotty, want my house too? No worries, I'll keep the mortgage.

Personally, a fairer deal woulda been more like taking 1st AND 2nd place cash for a guaranteed seat in the TOC. At least that's where the negotiation coulda started considering her chip lead.

I am not upset with Scott taking the deal. I mean it's a no brainer. I would take it too. It's just the retardedness of this whole thing that just bothers me.

I know... in the end, it's Swimmom's choice and she could do whatever she wants to. I was just shocked at the ridiculousness of this whole thing.

The only reason to do this is if swimmom is Scott's backer.

Scott has made it well known that he is not in it for the money... at all. All he wants to do is win a ME seat. But don't we all? I think she thought she was "just being nice" by passing another seat to a blogger instead of it being wasted in one way or another.

Sill makes me sick to my stomach to think that I woke up the next morning and really thought that Scott had won it fair and square.

Another example of why most women are terrible at poker.

disclaimer: not defending this deal at all, but...

first, has anyone actually confirmed that swimmom is a woman? having a mom or grl in their name does not make them a woman. second, lucko, you know most men are pretty terrible at poker as well. lastly, playing poker and making a bad chop are not necessarily correlated. one can be a horrible poker player, but still negotiate for a better deal than the one swimmom made.

Pretty gay. If swimmom did that, I would also check for collusion including soft playing.

i totally agree with you alan. at an absolute minimum I would guarantee myself first place money before making such a deal. even here, with the difference between first place and second is $90 and a TOC seat worth about $500, that would be incredibly generous.

if I were Scott I would have taken the deal, but I wouldnt be very happy and I wouldnt feel as though I'd earned the spot. i think in future BBT events there should be a rule that you actually have to win a tournament with no deals to be eligible to play in the TOC. its called the tournament of CHAMPIONS, you should actually have to win something to qualify.

I'm late to the party but I make that deal with about 20 different players if I'm in Swimmom's spot there.

And don't tell me other people who are complaining don't make the same deal with a friend, or lover, or sibling.

The beauty of tournaments is the ability to make deals. The opinions of those making the deal is all that matters and the opinions of us on the outside don't matter in the slightest.
